How to pay someone in Russia without a Russian bank account? Most landlords, guides, drivers and tutors take a transfer to their phone number over SBP or to a Russian bank card. If you hold USDT, you can convert it to rubles in the Matrimix Telegram wallet and send those rubles to the person's phone or card for a 6% fee. The receiver gets ordinary rubles, usually within a few minutes.
Key facts (October 2026)
- SBP («СБП», the Faster Payments System) is the Bank of Russia's 24/7 service for instant transfers between Russian banks by phone number. More than 200 banks are connected.
- Matrimix ruble payouts cost 6%. Over SBP you can send 1,500–60,000 ₽ per payout, to a Russian card 3,500–100,000 ₽.
- Payouts are paid from your ruble balance. You fund it by converting USDT at the wallet rate, shown before you confirm.
- A payout usually arrives within a few minutes, and the bot tells you when it is Delivered.
- A sent payout cannot be cancelled. If the bank rejects it, the money returns to your ruble balance.
- The ruble balance holds up to 200,000 ₽; you can buy up to 200,000 ₽ a day and 1,000,000 ₽ a month.
- Opening the wallet does not ask for e-mail, phone or documents. The interface is in English or Russian.
How people in Russia expect to be paid
Cards issued abroad have not worked in Russia since March 2022 (details: does Mastercard work in Russia), so a foreign visitor cannot simply tap a card or send a bank transfer from home. Locally, the normal way to pay a private person is «перевод по СБП»: a transfer to the phone number linked to their bank account. A landlord renting out a room, a tutor, a freelance guide or a driver you booked for a day trip will usually tell you a phone number and a bank, for example "Sber" or "T-Bank". Some prefer a card number instead.
To pay over SBP you need two things from the receiver: the phone number and the name of the bank that should receive the money. For a card payout you need the 16-digit card number of a Russian bank.
Phrases that help:
- «Можно перевести по номеру телефона?» (Mozhno perevesti po nomeru telefona?) — Can I transfer to your phone number?
- «На какой банк?» (Na kakoy bank?) — To which bank?
- «Деньги пришли?» (Den'gi prishli?) — Has the money arrived?
Which way to pay a person
Payouts are not the only option. If the person can show an SBP QR code (businesses and registered self-employed people usually can), a QR payment costs 3% instead of 6%.
| SBP payout | Card payout | SBP QR payment | Cash | |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| What you need from the receiver | Phone number and bank | Russian card number | An SBP QR code | Nothing |
| Amount per payment | 1,500–60,000 ₽ | 3,500–100,000 ₽ | 1–200,000 ₽ | Any |
| Matrimix fee | 6% | 6% | 3% | — (bureau rate) |
| Typical use | Rent, lessons, a guide | Larger rent, a deposit | Self-employed, small businesses | Small sums, markets, tips |

What it costs: worked examples
The 6% is added on top of the amount the receiver gets. Prices are as of October 2026; the confirmation screen and /fees always show the current numbers.
| Payment | Method | Receiver gets | Fee 6% | Taken from your ruble balance |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Tutor, one lesson | SBP | 2,000 ₽ | 120 ₽ | 2,120 ₽ |
| City guide, half a day | SBP | 8,000 ₽ | 480 ₽ | 8,480 ₽ |
| Room, one month | SBP | 45,000 ₽ | 2,700 ₽ | 47,700 ₽ |
| Flat, one month | Card | 75,000 ₽ | 4,500 ₽ | 79,500 ₽ |
| Taxi driver, 900 ₽ | — | Below the 1,500 ₽ minimum | — | Pay by QR or in cash |
Those rubles come from USDT. Suppose, for illustration, the wallet rate is 76.40 ₽ per USDT: then the 47,700 ₽ for the room costs about 624.35 USDT. The landlord gets an ordinary bank transfer, and you need neither a Russian bank account nor an envelope of cash.
Rent above 60,000 ₽ does not fit one SBP payout: send it to the landlord's card (up to 100,000 ₽) or split it into two SBP payouts, each at least 1,500 ₽.
Step by step: send rubles to a phone number or a card
Before you pay
- Open @MatrimixBot and launch the Mini App. On the wallet screen tap Deposit, pick USDT and a network, and send USDT from your exchange or another wallet. TRC20 and TON are the usual choices: USDT TRC20 address, USDT TON address. Deposits are free; the sending network takes its own fee.
- Tap Swap, set You send to USDT and You get to RUB, check the rate and slide Slide to swap. Convert the amount the person should get plus 6%.
Sending the payout
- Open Services → Payouts via SBP and card number. You can also open the Ruble card in your asset list and tap Withdraw.
- On the Withdraw via SBP / card screen choose SBP or Card.
- Enter Amount to receive, ₽: the amount the person should get. The fee is added on top.
- For SBP, type the Receiver's phone (+7 9XX XXX-XX-XX) and pick the Receiver's bank in SBP from the list. For a card, type the Card number.
- Tap Get price. On the Check the payout screen, check Receiver gets, the masked phone or card, the Bank, the fee and You pay. The price is held for 90 seconds.
- Slide Send rubles. The status goes from Processing to Delivered, usually within a few minutes, and the bot sends a notification.
- Ask the receiver to confirm that the money arrived.
Check the receiver before you slide
A payout to the right requisites of the wrong person cannot be returned. The Matrimix confirmation screen shows the masked phone or card and the bank, not the receiver's name, so the name check happens with the person, before you pay:
- Get the details in writing. Ask for the phone number, the bank and the receiver's full name in a message rather than by ear, and compare the digits one by one.
- Pick the bank they named. SBP delivers to the bank you choose. If the number is not linked to that bank, the bank refuses the requisites and the money comes back to your balance.
- Be wary of last-minute changes. If someone asks you to pay a different number or a relative's card than the one you agreed, confirm by a call first.
- No deposits to strangers. Do not pay a deposit for a flat you have not seen to a person you only know from an ad.
Who this is for, and who it is not for
Ruble payouts are made for people who are in Russia and pay a local person: rent for a room, a tutor, a guide, a driver for a pre-arranged trip, or a friend you are splitting a bill with. Students who live here for months will find more in international students in Russia: money and rent.
They are not a service for sending money into Russia from abroad, and they do not pay companies by invoice: a payout goes only to a phone number or a card, so tuition invoices or utility bills with a bank account number need another route.
On the legal side: Federal Law 282-FZ, in force since 1 September 2026, forbids accepting digital currency as payment for goods and services in Russia. In a Matrimix payout the receiver gets rubles by bank transfer; the conversion from USDT is a separate step on your side. Plain-language overview: is crypto legal in Russia. This is not legal advice.
Good to know
- Clear pricing. A 6% payout fee, with the rubles bought at the wallet rate; both are shown before you confirm, so the total holds no surprises.
- Minimums and caps. 1,500 ₽ per SBP payout, 3,500 ₽ per card payout; maximums of 60,000 ₽ and 100,000 ₽. Daily limits on amount and number of payouts, and monthly limits per receiver, also apply; the payout screen shows them under Limits.
- A sent payout leaves at once. It cannot be recalled, and only the receiver can send the money back, so check the phone, bank or card before you slide.
- Matrimix keeps the coins and rubles for you. No seed phrases, no extra apps: everything opens in Telegram.
- Telegram is largely blocked in Russia. Since mid-March 2026 most connections fail on mobile data and Wi-Fi alike, and since July 2026 foreign SIM and eSIM roaming is filtered too. Buy rubles before you need them — they wait on the balance. More: does Telegram work in Russia.
- Banks can decline. The receiver's bank occasionally rejects a payout; the money then returns to your ruble balance and the bot tells you.

FAQ
Can I pay my landlord in Russia without a Russian bank account?
Yes, if you are in Russia. Convert USDT to rubles in the Matrimix wallet, then send rubles to the landlord's phone number over SBP (1,500–60,000 ₽) or to their Russian card (3,500–100,000 ₽). The fee is 6%, added on top of the amount the landlord receives.
What is the minimum SBP payout?
1,500 ₽ per payout over SBP and 3,500 ₽ per payout to a card. For smaller sums, pay an SBP QR code if the person has one (3% fee, from 1 ₽) or pay in cash.
How long does a payout take?
Usually a few minutes. The status changes to Delivered in the app, and the bot sends a notification. If the bank declines the payout, the money returns to your ruble balance.
What if I send rubles to the wrong person?
If the phone, bank or card number was valid but belonged to someone else, the payout cannot be reversed; only that person can return it. Get the receiver's details in writing and check them before you slide Send rubles.
Can I use this to send money to Russia from abroad?
No. Matrimix payouts are meant for people who are in Russia and pay a local person in rubles. They are not a remittance service.
